The ankle and knee are made up of complex joints. Such joints are very much affected by the way you walk and by the posture of your foot.
If you are experiencing pain in your ankle and/or knee, the following biomechanical structures may be identified as the probable contributory factors:
[su_list_fav]- Position of the hip and knee
- Alignment of the pelvis
- Stability of the ankle and pressure on the feet.
All previous injuries and accidents are also considered in order to thoroughly determine why there is pain in these complex joints.
Also, pre-existing conditions may be the ones causing your ankle pain and knee pain.
Some of these conditions may be (but not limited to) the following:
[su_list_fav]- Sprain and/or strains
- Arthritis or osteoarthritis
- Inflammation of tendons and ligaments
- Gout
- Injury or bone damage
- Joint dislocation
- Bursitis
- Rheumatism.
Your age and your level of activity, i.e: the frequency and length of your ankle and knee movements, may determine the pre-conditions mentioned above and the magnitude of pain you are enduring. Sometimes, stiffness and immobility may accompany knee pain and ankle pain. Self-medication to treat your condition is not encouraged. It is still best to consult with a medical professional who will perform the proper diagnosis.
